Many people asked me what I eat whenever I eat out since I'm plant-based. My answer will always be the same,
"I eat whatever I want, but I mostly choose to eat foods that makes my body feel amazing."
Whenever we think about plant-based, we are confined to thinking a fixed, restrictive diet. But it's not. Plant-based just means whole foods, non processed and foods that are sourced from plants, that's all. It's not that hard, just think about eating a rainbow of food that comes in different colours - Red, Yellow/Orange, Purple/Blue, White/Brown and Green.
To give you a better idea of what are some foods that lies underneath this categories (which is a lot), here are just some examples of the list of food that I get to choose from:
Red: Tomato, Red capsicum, Radishes, Strawberries, Cherries, Red grapes, Raspberries, Watermelon, Red apples
Yellow/Orange: Carrots, Rock melon, Lemons, Sweet potato, Pumpkin, Pineapples, Mangoes, Corn, Oranges, Squash, Peaches, Nectarines, Apricots, Grapefruit
Purple/Blue: Beetroot, Red cabbage, Eggplant, Blackberries, Blueberries, Purple grapes, Plums
White/Brown: Cauliflower, Brown pears, Mushrooms, White peaches, Garlic, Bananas, Potatoes, Dates, Onions, Ginger, Turnip
Green: Spinach, Asparagus, Avocados, Broccoli, Peas, Green apples, Green grapes, Limes, Kiwifruit, Green beans, Lettuce, Cabbage, Celery, Cucumber, Green capsicum
To give a better visual idea of how easy it is to be plant-based even when during social settings, here is my food journal that I've put together (while being judged by my friends hahaha, but thanks for helping me plate my food/utensils so that I can take a nice photo<3).

Nevertheless, I am still human. Some days I do really want to eat some junk foods. So I do have a 80:20 rule where I eat foods that my body needs 80% of the time and I eat whatever my body craves 20% of the time. Here are my favourites:
I name them - Soul foods:
That's all for now!
At the end of the day, even if you're not plant-based it is totally fine. What I really want to advocate here is to eat more whole foods - grains, fruits and vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds and enjoy how good your body feels.
Just remember, eat a diversity of whole foods and eat them in abundance!
All the love,
Ashley
